The previous acquisitions were similar regional graphic arts dealers: PDP Systems, Austin, TX; ImageBind Systems, Clifton Park, NY; and Premier Business Systems, Clearwater, FL. www.myprintresource.com/10008070 NewPage Files Chapter 11 NewPage Corporation has filed a Joint Chapter 11 Plan with the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The company also requested an extension of time to file the dis- closure statement related to the plan. "The filing of our plan of reorganization is an important and positive step forward to a successful completion of our financial reorganization," said George F. Martin, president and CEO. "Discussions with and among our major creditor groups regarding the plan are ongo- ing. We are hopeful that these discussions will lead to broad support for our plan." www.myprintresource.com/10006889 8 QUICK PRINTING / October 2012 Franchise Services Convention Takes Baltimore by Storm —Sam Hosoe, page 30 T he annual Sir Speedy, PIP Printing and Marketing Services, and Sig- nal Graphics International Convention and Vendor Show was held in Baltimore August 15-18 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Franchise owners and salespeople from around the country were presented with sales achievement and other recognition awards during the three-day event that encompassed keynote presentations, general sessions, and the largest trade show of any printing and marketing services company. The 2012 Sir Speedy Franchisee of the Year Award was presented to Reuven and Susy Kanner of Miami Lakes, FL, and the 2012 PIP Fran- chisee of the Year Award was presented to Jimmy and Judy Brumley of Burlington, NC. This is the second time the Brumleys have received this award and the first time in history that a PIP franchisee has received the award twice. Top Volume Awards went to George Coriaty of Sir Speedy, Whittier, CA, The Fulner Family of PIP in Indianapolis, IN, and Nashville, TN, and to Riley and Kay Gunnels of Signal Graphics in Atlantic City, NJ. Those franchisees also received the Quick Printing Top Volume Award, which was presented by editor Karen Lowery Hall. The International Top Volume Award went to Fred Torres of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In addition, a Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Art and Dannie Weber of Winston-Salem, NC, in recognition of their 40 years with the Sir Speedy network.
