everal months ago, a press operator at a commercial printing company that
had recently installed high-speed, high-volume production inkjet equipment
told me that inkjet was less about the equipment and more about the software.
Indeed, the so-called killer app for production inkjet isn't necessarily the print-
ing technology per se, although that's part of it, but what sophisticated front-ends—
and sophisticated operators—are capable of vis-á-vis automation and personalization.
