factory labor costs as a % of VA need to
be at 40 percent or less if the company
is going to be profitable. Only material

Financial Statement.
Compare your actual numbers to your
budget as a benchmark using monthly
financial statements and rolling income
statements. To monitor expenses and
control costs, compare your monthly
financial statements to your budget.
Monthly financial statements provide
clear and concise pictures that can be
readily compared to budget and to
industry standards. There are limita-
tions to the monthly statement, how-
ever; so we also recommend using a
three- to six-month rolling income
statement to monitor general corporate
management costs and make timely
decisions, particularly in today's more
volatile economy.

QuarkXPress 10 Update
Quark Software has announced QuarkXPress 10.1, a major update to
QuarkXPress 10 that is available free of charge to all version 10 users. It
delivers new and improved features based on customer feedback, includ-
ing 8,000 percent zoom and dynamic guides. The update adds HTML5
animation capabilities to App Studio layouts within QuarkXPress and
provides version 10 support for Quark Publishing Platform.
Available as a perpetual license, customers can rely on ongoing
value from their investment in QuarkXPress 10. No subscriptions are
necessary and users can take advantage of sup-
port programs and dual activation, plus free
upgrades throughout each version cycle.
What's new in QuarkXPress 10.1?
• 8,000 Percent Zoom: QuarkXPress now
offers the deepest zooming options available
in leading layout and photo tools so that
designers can position images as precisely as
possible.
• Dynamic Guides: These guides auto-
matically appear when items that are created,
moved, or resized align with other items on the page. They also show
when items have the same width and height as other elements on the
page or when several items have the same distance to other items to
help evenly distribute elements.
• HTML5 Animations: Use QuarkXPress to easily create HTML5 ani-
mations such as slide-in from the side, fade or grow elements. Use these
animations in App Studio to easily add interactive animations to app
content.
• Books and Collaboration: Books are back and better than ever!
The new, rebuilt book feature now works seamlessly with projects and
layouts so users can specify one or more layouts for inclusion in a single
book. Books can sync indexes, table of contents and other design ele-
ments, such as colors and stylesheets, and can be exported to one or
multiple PDFs. This new flexible approach is also an ideal way to create
publications that contain multiple page sizes.
• Export as Image: Simply export boxes, partial pages or whole pages
as static pixel based images (PNG, JPG).
• Custom Color Schemes: Now you can create your own user inter-
face color settings in the preferences menu. *Mac only
• QR Code Enhancements: Change URL and other content on exist-
ing QR codes and create pixel or vector-based codes.
QuarkXPress 10.1 supports Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, and
Mavericks as well as Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.

PoliPrint
PoliPrint is designed for high-heat, dry toner produc-
tion equipment such as Xerox iGen and Kodak Nexpress,
is available in 5, 8, 10, and 14 mil thicknesses, and is
distributed exclusively
by xpedx. Printers will
appreciate PoliPrint's per-
formance, as well as its
price, in comparison to
other high heat, dry toner synthetic substrates. This bright
white, ultra smooth synthetic paper features a special-
ized coating for excellent toner adhesion, making it well
suited for most environmental conditions with resistance
to water, grease and other contaminants. Because of the
durable nature of PoliPrint there is no need for secondary
post-print laminating, which saves additional expense
and time. In addition, PoliPrint does not experience the
swelling or sheet distortion which is commonly associated
with other synthetic materials.
