Customer-specific Solution Rotolito Lombarda, known for its print- ing services far beyond the borders of Italy and active in the digital market since 2010, will soon be processing new digitally printed products with the variable cut-off folding system FoldLine from manroland web sys- tems. The company ordered a configuration that comprises all available features from manroland web systems. An extension and integration of the inline workflow system with an HP T410 Color Inkjet Web Press is planned for early 2014. The printnetwork Bridge, developed by manroland web sys- tems, will become the link between the MIS system from Rotolito Lombarda, the HP printing unit controller, and the FoldLine system, which will all come together to cre- ate a dynamic postpress system. Products for Maximum Capacity The many features of Rotolito Lom- barda's FoldLine result in a high-capacity and versatile production system, providing a quick return on investment. Not only can the FoldLine generate advertising material of up to 64 pages in long-grain and short- grain formats and customized newspapers, but also auxiliary-glued book blocks, in conjunction with an automatic stacker from RIMA-SYSTEM. With the FoldLine, Roto- lito Lombarda can digitally recreate conven- tional offset products. The web width can accommodate up to eight pages, and asym- metric productions with partial-width webs also are possible. A further perforating unit allows for additional product variations. The high-performance capability of the FoldLine is impressive: web speeds of up to 300 meters per minute and a web width of up to 106 cm make the system suitable for the fastest digital printing presses on the market and, therefore, as an inline solution for the production of an almost unlimited variety of printed products. Its high produc- tivity is enhanced by quick, dynamic job changeover sequences that are unrivaled by competing products. A new production run with the same page count and cut-off length can be started in just three minutes. When the page format needs to be changed, the conversion takes only two minutes longer. In developing its FoldLine digital finish- ing solutions, manroland web systems drew from its many decades of experience in constructing high-performance equipment for industrial printing. Like all manroland web system products, the FoldLine uses ro- bust and durable cutting knives that can be changed quickly and with few tools. manro- land web systems also provides sophisticated and efficient solutions for the system's op- eration: for example, a mobile control con- sole and the MobilPad offer wireless support for staff to make adjustments directly at the machine.
