NAPL Report: Print Sales Down Industry sales from all sources declined 0.2 percent in the first quarter of 2013, a disappointing drop following sales increases of 0.8 percent, 0.7 percent, and 0.6 percent, respectively, in the previous three quarters. The results were reported in the summer edition of the NAPL Printing Research Center's Printing Business Conditions report. Report authors, NAPL senior vice president and chief economist Andrew Paparozzi and senior economist Joseph Vincenzino write: "We haven't sustained even the modest gains made during the second half of 2012. Business is still maddeningly inconsistent, and the pressure on prices and profitability still hasn't eased. Nothing suggests that we are turning back down," they continue, "but nothing suggests that our climb back up will be getting easier." Packprint Summit Americas will be held in Miami, November 5-6, 2013 and is the region's first dedicated event to focus entirely on the package printing industry. Gilmore Corporation is the first print company in Canada to purchase the Xerox CiPress 500. MyPRINTResource.com/10008702 Digital Print Growing According to the latest research from Smithers Pira, the digital printing market will grow from $131.5 billion in 2013 to $187.7 billion in 2018, a compound annual growth rate of 7.4 percent. The study further indicated that inkjet technology will grow faster than electrophotography, and all offset processes will see their value shares fall, particularly in web offset.
