HP Unveils New Media Certifcation Program HP has announced a new media cer- tification program for HP Inkjet Web Presses, helping customers save time by quickly identifying a range of substrates compatible with HP high-speed production inkjet systems. In addition to simplifying and streamlin- ing choice points for customers, the media certification program also encourages paper manufacturers to develop and qualify a wide range of affordable media for HP Inkjet Web Presses. "Media versatility is one of the most common concerns of customers and prospects considering production ink- jet equipment," said Aurelio Maruggi, vice president and general manager, Inkjet High-speed Production Solutions, HP. "The new media certification program builds on our overall media strategy, which also includes HP's unique bonding agent for production on low-cost, uncoated off- set papers and our collaboration with leading paper mills on the development of inkjet optimized papers." An updated media locator tool enables HP Inkjet Web Press customers to quickly identify media that suits their specific needs using intuitive search filters such as region, press, and application. Additionally, HP works with paper manufacturers on the development of uncoated and coated paper solutions with ColorPRO technology that are optimized for HP Ink- jet Web Presses. To date, more than 90 papers have been developed with ColorPRO. Through the global collaboration, which targets growth po- tential in commercial and packaging markets, Heidelberg gains access to Fujifilm's market-leading inkjet technology, while Fujifilm can leverage Heidelberg's strengths in engineering and manufacturing. The alliance has a special focus on bringing next generation products to the attractive digital printing market and gives both companies access to advanced technologies Heidelberg and Fujifilm have in the prepress area. Meeting current and future customer needs remains primary for Fujifilm and Heidelberg as the two companies continue to focus their portfolios on market segments with the greatest potential for profitability and growth. "Fujifilm and Heidelberg have led the printing industry in each domain. Heidelberg's reputation among world's printers is unique," said Shigetaka Komori, Chairman and CEO of Fujifilm Corporation. MyPRINTResource.com/10013800 EFI and Landa Form Strategic Alliance EFI and Landa Corporation have entered into a partnership agree- ment for the development of a digital front end (DFE) as part of Landa's Nanographic Printing solution. The Landa DFE will stream jobs at full printing speed for four to eight color printing with Landa Nanographic Printing Presses and will enable press operators to perform last-minute job changes on the press, to proof jobs, and to print rush jobs on the fly. In addition, it will collect production feedback from the presses and support closed-loop color control and inspection. "Benny Landa is a legend in our industry, and we are excited to work with his company as its exclusive DFE technology provider," said EFI CEO Guy Gecht. "Landa Nanographic Printing Presses have potential to accelerate the migration of mainstream commercial printing and packaging to digital printing. The Landa DFE provides a proven, ultra-high-speed and well-integrated front-end platform that Landa customers will require." Landa presses will be installed next to offset presses and use the same substrates. With the new DFE, Landa presses will integrate into a printer's existing prepress, production, and business manage- ment workflow and finishing equipment. It will enable high-speed, variable-data printing on any off-the-shelf B1 format (41 inch/ 1,050 mm) substrate. The new Landa DFE will enter testing as part of the beta instal- lations of the B1 format Landa S10 Nanographic Printing Press slated for Q4 of this year.
