Mercury Print Productions Installs a Third PROSPER Press With a KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press installed in July 2011 and a PROSPER 1000 Press installed in December 2012, Mercury Print Productions is preparing for a third press to be installed at the beginning of 2014. Mercury Print, based in Rochester, NY, will use the new PROSPER 5000XLi Press to broaden its offerings of short-run, on-demand book produc- tion for existing clients while also adding other services to at- tract new business. "We have believed strongly in Kodak's Stream inkjet tech- nology from the very beginning," said Christian Schamberger, President of Mercury Print. "For us, the combination of cost, quality, and technology, along with the future direction of the company, have all played a role in our selection of Kodak for all three of these inkjet presses. This additional press enables us to increase our capacity and move into areas such as full-color, personalized direct mail." Schamberger foresees continued growth year over year for Mercury Print and feels that digital technologies such as inkjet printing give his customers the ability to produce their prod- ucts at a price point that makes sense, in a time frame that works. He also cites the ability to individualize each piece as a key factor in that growth. Here are some recent examples of innovative installations. www.MyPRINTResource.com MARCH 2014 • INKJET'S AGE 7 NEWS UPDATE Merrill Leverages Ricoh Solutions Ricoh Americas Corporation has announced that Merrill Cor- poration, a leading provider of outsourced solutions for business communication and information management, has deployed the InfoPrint 5000 continuous feed color print platform. Merrill will use the system to print highly regulated and compliance-driven communications for their customers in the financial services, health insurance, and other corporate markets. "Our customers demand high-quality, color documents for their clients. A financial portfolio update or healthcare information covered by HIPAA cannot be compromised. Our customers won't allow such compromises nor will their clients, so we integrated the InfoPrint 5000 into our operations to ensure such documents are delivered accurately and on time—no misses allowed," said Patrick Foley, SVP Operations, Merrill. The InfoPrint 5000 helps Merrill to print more, print faster and print more accurately. Ultimately, the platform helps their clients rest assured that they will meet their regulatory deadlines and that the critical information that needs to be communicated is delivered accurately, each and every time. MyPRINTResource.com/10007712 IWCO Expands its Digital Platform IWCO Direct has expanded the digital platform at its Hamburg, PA facility with the installation of an Océ ColorStream 3900 digital inkjet press from Canon Solutions America. The installation marks the next phase of IWCO Direct's strategic investment in digital print technology. "Digital printing is the future of direct mail marketing," said Jim Andersen, IWCO Direct's Chief Executive Officer. "Our customers are experiencing remarkable ROI with targeted, highly segmented campaigns that incorporate variable text and images. We plan to continue an aggressive expansion of our digital print technology platform in 2014." Similar to the company's other ColorStream installations, including those at its Chanhassen, MN headquarters, the new press in Hamburg will use the Océ Premium Pigment ink solution, which expands the color gamut and provides more vibrant saturation. In 2013, IWCO Direct installed a ColorStream 3900 in Chanhassen and a JetStream 2200 at its Warminster, PA facility. The company expects to add additional Océ ColorStream 3900s across its platform in 2014. Back in 2011, the company installed an Col- orStream 3500, along with its first Xerox iGen4 press to bolster full-color, variable-data digital print capacity.
