2013 NAQP Owners Conference
Members came together at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in
Nashville, TN, for the 2013 NAQP Owners Conference November 7-9. The annual conference served up a full buffet of educational sessions and motivational speakers, including "Visibility
Coach" David Avrin, guitar virtuoso Mike Rayburn, and business
coach Nancy Proffitt. "Is 3D Printing in Your Future?" was per-
haps the most popular
session offered, because
it became a topic of conversation throughout the
rest of the conference.
Friday evening's Vendor
Showcase was a bustling
event, inviting lively
exchanges between vendors and attendees.
The
association's
awards were presented
on Friday at the awards
luncheon. Paul Strack
of CustomXM in North
Little Rock, AR, was honored with the Printer
of the Year award, and
John Foley, founder of Michael Yates of Oki Data Americas accepts
interlinkONE and Grow the Product of the Year award from Andy
Miller of PrintSource.
Socially, was given the
Industry Award of Distinction. Later at the Vendor Showcase,
Tawnya Starr accepted the Supplier of the Year award on behalf
of PrinterPresence by Firespring, and Michael Yates accepted
the Product of the Year award for Oki Data Americas for its OKI
proColor Series printers.
Conference attendees enjoyed the perfect Nashville ending on
Saturday evening with an outing to the Grand Ole Opry. Next
year, the Owners Conference moves back to Chicago and will be
held immediately preceding Graph Expo 2014.

EFI Acquires Metrix Software
Rick Schildgen presented the 2013 Printer of the Year award to Paul Strack.
EFI has acquired the Edmonds, WA-based automated print
planning and imposition technology company operating as
Metrix Software. The Metrix team has joined EFI, including
Metrix CEO and founder Rohan Holt, who is now director of EFI
Metrix products. EFI will continue development and customer
support activities for all Metrix software products.

Printing Industries of America has honored 27
graphic arts companies, both members and nonmembers, as recipients of the 2013 Best Workplace
in the Americas Awards. The program is designed to
recognize graphic arts companies for their outstanding human relations efforts which contribute to a
successful workplace. Entries are judged on: management practices, work environment, training and
development, recognition and rewards, workplace
health and safety, health and wellness, financial
security, and work-life balance. A total of 14 companies received the designation Best of the Best,
while 13 earned Best Workplace honors. The full list
